I was really excited to shoot Stephanie and Tsvetan’s wedding because it was going to be held at Prairie Productions in downtown Chicago. The space is owned by a photographer (Michael Roberts) and its just a gorgeous space with tall ceilings and windows. Plus, with Stephanie’s great taste on the decor, this space just transformed into a beautiful wedding venue! One of the really cool things she did was to use custom lighting that matches her theme colors-orange, red and pink-which looked great in contrast with the bare white walls in the Prairie Production space. However, the lighting also made this one of the most challenging receptions to photograph! Once it got dark, the only light sources in the room were the orange/red/pink spot lights! I had to be very careful to balance my camera’s lighting with the room’s ambient lighting to make sure Stephanie’s vision of the theme colors are captured in the photos without having all the photos be deep red!
