This is a follow up from my Madison wedding 2 weeks ago, and today, I’m posting pics of the reception. It was loads of fun, with the awesom-est speeches. It was totally distracting to have to listen to such awesomely funny speeches while shooting!

Let it be known that a Minnesota Viking just married a Green Bay Packer. ;)

Today, we continue our travel on a Tuesday in Italy!! After our visit to Florence last week, we continued the journey to Venice via Trenitalia. Venice was also where our trip in Italy ended. We left for Chicago from the Venice airport.

I can honestly say that Venice is a city unlike any other I’ve ever seen. The entire city is submerged in water. There are no cars in the city. From the moment we arrived at the train station, we were already surrounded by water. The only way out of the station, was via water taxi, which functions like buses in a regular city. We hopped on, and got off at a stop closest to where we were staying, and walked the rest of the way, because there is no other mode of transportation, once you’re in Venice! It really is quite amazing! Thanks to the GPS on my phone, we were able to make our way around the winding alleys that define Venice. We never saw another vehicle until AFTER we left Italy and arrived back in Chicago! I loved the “chill factor” about Venice – unhurried, relaxed, old, and just plain, comforting. I loved it. If I did nothing but sit by the water and watch the sun set everyday, I’d be a very happy girl!

No pigeons were hurt in the process of taking this photograph…although the both of us might have gotten hurt by the pigeons, which seem to enjoy landing on people’s heads!

This week is going to really full for me as I’m getting ready to leave for our trip to Malaysia this Saturday, so for today, I’m just going to post a sneaky little peek of yesterday’s tundra-freezing-cold engagement session. You know, when they say it’s going to warm up and will be 40 degrees in Chicago — DON’T BELIEVE THEM. This is because, the wind chill is always going to bring the temperatures down by 10 degrees easy. We started the engagement session downtown by the river, which was still a “comfortable” 38 degrees windchill. Then, it started to get dark as we headed towards the Shedd Aquarium..and them boom, it felt like zero degrees!

The good news – we got some awesome romantic night shots. Here is a couple of sneak peeks!

Oh yeah..If you follow me or my blog, you’ll know that I often reference my own wedding when it comes to why I photograph weddings today. So I thought, it’s time to perhaps show you pictures from my wedding – photos that really, changed my perspective about life – and about the importance of family and friends, near and far, no matter how infrequently I see them. At the end of the day, I discovered that the wedding is less about Paul and I, and more about seeing and spending time with your closest friends and family.

I got married in December 2007. That’s quite some time ago. But till this day, I still get butterflies when I see the slideshows, especially at the start, seeing my dad doing prayers at dawn in my old home the morning of the wedding. *sniff* I miss my dad. :(

This is the first of 6 slideshows that I got from my photographer for my 2-day wedding celebration. I’ll show you the first for now. We’ll leave the rest for another post. :)
